TokySocial

TokySocial is the in-engine, in-phone social media experience for TokyubeVoxelVerse. It's where creators show their builds, stream screenshots and clips of in-game moments, follow other players, DM friends, and grow an audience for the worlds they make — without ever leaving the game.

Overview

TokySocial sits behind the TokyubeSocial icon on TokyPhone. The feed, profile, and DM features are also accessible from the in-world TokySocial overlay (bottom-right corner of the title screen, as part of the social login widget cluster).

It is built on the same Supabase-backed Tokyube platform that powers Friends, Avatars, and Profiles — so your TokySocial identity, follower graph, and post history travel with your Steam ID across machines.

Why TokySocial

Players already capture and share their best in-game moments — they just have to leave the game to do it. They open Discord, Reddit, X, Instagram, or YouTube; they juggle screenshot folders, video editors, and external platforms that have nothing to do with the game they're playing.

TokySocial closes that loop. The capture happens in-engine, the post happens in-engine, the audience that sees it is also in-engine — actively building, playing, and creating in TokyubeVoxelVerse. That tightens the creator-to-audience cycle in ways external platforms simply can't:

  • A screenshot links directly to the world it was taken in. Tap and you can join (if the host allows) and stand where the photo was taken.
  • A scripted-game post can include the script's Saved Scripts Library entry — readers copy it into a free slot and run it themselves.
  • A character pose can ship the avatar payload along with it so other creators can study or remix the skin.
  • A TokyNode showcase can include the actual node — viewers import it into their library with one tap.

Every post is, optionally, a working demo. That's the difference between in-engine social and the social infrastructure most platforms use.

In-Game Feed

The default view of TokySocial. Posts from people you follow rendered as a vertical scroll, infinite-scroll style.

  • Image posts — screenshot from the in-world Camera or imported from your Gallery.
  • Video posts — short captures, eventually up to 60-second reels (planned).
  • World posts — a card linking to a specific world; tap to join if the host allows.
  • Build posts — image plus an optional attached TokyNode/Family/Component the viewer can import.
  • Script posts — image plus a Saved Scripts Library entry to copy.

Likes, comments, shares, and saves are all available on every post type. Reactions sync via the same Supabase backend used by the rest of the Tokyube social graph.

Posting From In-World

Three ways to post:

  1. Camera → Share. The TokyPhone Camera app has a "Share to TokySocial" action right after capture.
  2. Gallery → Share. Any saved screenshot or imported image can be promoted to a post.
  3. Direct compose. The TokySocial app has a compose button that opens a fresh draft — pick a media source, write a caption, optionally attach a node or script, hit post.

Drafts auto-save to your account so you can start a post on one machine and finish it on another.

Profiles & Verified

Every Tokyube account already has a profile (the same one Friends and the in-world social cards use). TokySocial extends it with:

  • A pinned post (your best build, your most-played world, etc).
  • A grid of recent posts.
  • Follower / following counts.
  • A "build with me" status that links to your currently hosted world (if any).
  • Verified markers for studios, partners, and high-trust creators — set via the setVerified admin endpoint.

Friends & DMs

The same Tokyube friend graph powers TokySocial follows and DMs. A Tokyube friend is automatically followed; a DM with a Tokyube friend opens the same thread you'd see in Messages.

You can follow non-friends too — following is a one-way action that puts their posts in your feed without requiring mutual approval.

Discovery & Tags

The Discovery tab surfaces posts beyond your follow graph. Algorithms (planned) will weight by:

  • Trending tags in the last 24 hours.
  • Posts from people your friends follow.
  • Posts attached to worlds with high concurrent player counts.
  • Verified creators you don't follow yet.

Tags are free-form (user-supplied, hash-prefixed). The tagging system is shared with the marketplace so a #vehicle post about a TokyNode shows up alongside marketplace listings for vehicles.

Stories & Reels (Planned)

Stories and Reels are on the roadmap — Instagram-style ephemeral and short-form video formats native to TokySocial.
  • Stories — 24-hour rotating images and short clips that show at the top of the feed. Useful for "currently building" peeks without committing to a permanent post.
  • Reels — short (≤60s) video captures with music and a caption. The capture pipeline reuses the Camera app's video recorder; reels render with a vertical 9:16 crop optimized for TokyPhone playback.
  • Story Polls / Reactions — quick interactions (yes/no, this/that) that light up a creator's audience without requiring a comment thread.
  • Highlights — pin past stories to your profile in a horizontally-scrollable strip.

Creator Tools (Planned)

A creator dashboard for users who actively post is on the roadmap.
  • Insights. Per-post reach, engagement rate, follower growth, and best-time-to-post charts.
  • Scheduled posts. Queue up posts for specific times (great for global audiences across timezones).
  • Cross-posting. Optional pipe to mirror posts to Discord, X, or YouTube Shorts when you want a wider net.
  • Collabs. Tag a friend as a co-creator; the post appears in both profiles' grids and counts as a co-authored asset for marketplace splits.
  • Drafts vault. Multi-platform draft storage so a post-in-progress lives on Tokyube's backend, not your local disk.

Monetization (Planned)

Creator monetization on TokySocial is targeted post-Alpha. The hooks already exist — Wallet, TokyTokinz, the marketplace — but the social-side monetization features are still in design.
  • Tipping. Send TokyTokinz on any post or profile. The creator chooses whether tips go to their Wallet or a charity wallet.
  • Paid follows. Optional creator-tier follows that unlock subscriber-only posts.
  • Marketplace links. Promote a node, component, or world for sale directly from a post; the CTA opens the Shop deep-linked to the listing.
  • Sponsored posts. Brand partnerships will be clearly labelled and opt-in for both the creator and the viewer.

Moderation & Safety

  • Report flow. Any post, profile, or DM can be reported with one tap. Reports queue into the Tokyube moderation backend and are reviewed by the DOOM Industries team.
  • Block / mute. Block hides their posts and prevents DMs; mute hides posts but keeps the friend link.
  • Word filters. Per-account word filters hide posts and comments containing your chosen tokens.
  • Underage protection. Accounts flagged as minors get safer defaults: closed DMs except to friends, no monetization features, stricter discovery filters.
  • Verified ID for sellers. Anyone who wants to monetize on TokySocial completes a verified ID flow. Receivers always know whether the account they're tipping or paying has been verified.

Roadmap

Roughly ordered by what we're building first:

  1. Alpha (now). Profiles, friends, DMs, text+image posts, like/comment, follow graph, basic feed.
  2. Alpha + 1. Video posts, reels recorder in the Camera app, share-from-Gallery shortcut.
  3. Alpha + 2. Stories, hashtags, Discovery tab, trending sort.
  4. Beta. Creator dashboard, scheduled posts, insights.
  5. Beta + 1. Tipping, paid follows, marketplace deep-links.
  6. Post-launch. Live streams (in-engine broadcasting), Story Polls, cross-posting integrations, creator collabs.
